Aniika is a Dutch Norwegian artist originally from Oregon and raised in a small farm town miles outside of the city. She is a late bloomer and did not discover her love of painting until she was well into her career as a cybersecurity engineer. She discovered oil painting almost by accident, she gave it a try initially as a way to relax and destress. She had always admired oil paintings and decided to try a black and white painting since then she'd only need to purchase two oil paint colors, paper, and a brush. Considering that an acceptable cost for the tight budget she was on she set off to paint a scene from Breakfast at Tiffany's and discovered a deep love and a new world. As she has continued to paint an ongoing philosophy has emerged throughout her paintings that has stemmed from her profession. She claims that working in technology has taught her to question how we spend our time and our lives and to prioritize the difference between the real world and the virtual. Her artwork is not an invitation to enter a different world, but instead an invitation to be a part of the one you're in.
