Begona Autrique is a mexican artist who has lived in diferente cities around the world like Hong Kong, Brussels, Monterrey, Madrid and Mexico City. Currently she is living in Mexico city with her husband and with her 3 young children.
Throughout her life, she´s been exposed to different cultures, costumes and life style. Helping her to understand, different points of view and with that, finding a way to express in her own way. At the same time, Begona, has worked with different types of materials, having diferente phases of art work (from paintings to sclupturing).
Being curiosity a part of her nature, in early 2020, she tougt herself to work with a completly different material and a new method where she expreses her emotions in a simple yet unique drawing style. It is unique not just because of its one of a kind contemporary abstract painting, but because of the process it takes to get where she feels the painting is finished. This new method has a certain risk of failure that sometimes works to its benefit, but sometimes it ends on the trashcan. Around 20% of all the paintings turn out worthy for selling, the other 80% must be destroyed. Each finished painting has a little of that uncertainty on its finishing process because one never knows how it’s going to turn out. This makes it interesting, fun, unique and difficult.
