Glitter is the medium of choice for New York City visual artist Camomile Hixon who explores contemporary culture with words, images and symbols. Works composed of glittering letters examine the layered meanings and subtle textures of language, a development from Hixon's background as a singer/songwriter. She describes these paintings as ‘song fragments without the movement of melody’. Other images are meditations where she seeks to ‘expand moments in time where ephemeral beauty and infinite possibility become more tangible’.
Camomile Hixon’s new work; photo-collage and glitter on aluminum, depicts future Worlds with an emphasis on colonizing Mars. In 2019, Hixon exhibited at the Cornell Art Museum in Delray Beach Florida, the 58thVenice Biennale concurrent show hosted by the European Cultural Center, the Oculus Station and World Trade Center in Manhattan as well as the LinkNYC kiosks on 160 locations across New York City. Additionally, she exhibited at Scope NYC and the Affordable Art Fair Fall Edition with Latifa Metheny’s Azart Gallery. Hixon is also exhibiting at Scope Art Fair, Art Basel Miami Beach with Azart Gallery and in Tokyo Japan in the Shibuya Subway Hub with Neo Shibuya Gallery and MvvoArt.
Hixon is busy at work on a coffee table art book entitled Space Nomads Set a Course for Mars to be released in 2020.
