Residing in Waco Texas, Emily Story (b. 1989 Wichita Falls) is a contemporary artist working, mainly, with acrylic paint. She often uses a conceptual approach guided by formal decisions. Story creates with recognizable and abstract forms which push ideas of attitude, growth, and freedom draped in a bright range of colors. Story studied and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2013. Having graduated with a focus in mixed media collage, her work often displays the formal solutions and aesthetic as such. Her paintings directly respond to the surrounding environments and use experiences from the artist as a starting point. The results are deconstructed to the extent that meaning is shifted and interpretations become multifaceted.
