Francesco De Bernardis was born in Italy, where he spent the first 27 years of his life. He studied Physics and moved to the United States in 2010 to work as a researcher in Astrophysics. Since childhood he has been fascinated with lenses, microscopes, telescopes, and understanding nature from the smallest scales of the molecules and atoms to the stars and galaxies. His interest for science is visible in his photography work, which focuses on geometry, perspective, vanishing points, waves, reflections, natural phenomena, and the contrast of lights and shadows (do you know that shadows can travel faster than light?). He is interested in capturing seemingly unremarkable scenes, which are often produced by the most complex natural laws. He currently lives in Maryland.
