Self-taught artist Jenna Wellein’s paintings are characterized by her use of vivid, bold colors and aggressive texture. Focusing on stylized subjects, they convey exuberant movement, depth, and light through oil, acrylic, heavy gel, and other mixed media. Jenna primarily uses a palette knife to create the three-dimensional style of her current work.
“As a Seattle native, I’m endlessly inspired by Hawaii,” she says. “The shapes of the crashing waves, the colors of the flora and rainbows, and the unique textures of the earth influence every painting.” Jenna lives in Ewa Beach, Oahu with her husband and their free-spirited beach boy.
