Based in Emeryville, CA, Kim Thoman has been exhibiting nationally and receiving grants and honors for more than 35 years. She has art degrees from the University of California at Berkeley and San Francisco State University and was an art professor for 30 years.
Besides painting, Thoman makes steel wall sculptures and Embellished Paintings that combine her paintings and steel. She also is a pioneer in using 3D printing to make sculptures.
Thoman says her art is based on a personal philosophical belief that duality exists in everything. In the words of art critic Peter Frank…“If we can take away a moral and social lesson from Kim Thoman’s oeuvre, it is that conflict resolution lies within each of us… At heart, everything is in union.”
