Born in Italy, and having lived and traveled extensively throughout the US and Europe, Monica is a contemporary romantic abstract artist translating a sense of location and visual poetry into her work.
“My paintings repeat a feeling about light, passion, and beauty. My goal is to paint an emotion more than a particular subject matter. I want to capture the feeling I have when I experience an electrical charge of dramatic beauty.
I spent my early childhood years living in the desert climates of Texas and Arizona. Overnight, I was transplanted to the tropical islands of Hawaii. The sensory overload affected me in an intimate way. The dappled sunlight and lush color have permanently found their way into my work in an inspired way.
The sensory experiences I have with people, nature, and places are what I paint into my work through color, marks, and energy. My intent is to tap into the space where emotion, miracles, and humanity meet.
No matter what the subject matter, medium or material, I realize that my desire is to have my paintings repeat a feeling…”
