Pia Pownall is an accomplished actress and a self-taught visual artist residing in New York City. Her paintings have sold to private collectors in the US and Europe.
Pia’s work seeks to capture the dueling existence of Beauty and Ugly that is in our world. Inspired by the many countries and settings she’s called home, the memories of these places are reinterpreted into vibrant, pulsating, almost synesthetic “otherworldly” landscapes. that border on the fantastical. Through abstraction of form she invites the viewer to fill in the visual storyline with their imagination, engaging them to be an active participant in the creative process of the piece itself.
