Rita Hisar is a Contemporary Artist of Italian/Czech descent based in Toronto, Canada.
Her work is unique as she uses a palette knife and layers and layers of acrylic paint to create vibrant and textured paintings, capturing a moment of beauty or emotion.
She paints intuitively, combining elements of Expressionism, Pop Art and Fauvism to create unique iconic portraits, still life or figurative paintings, while creating a delicate balance of realism (control) and abstractism (chaos).
Although she has studied art formally at OCADU (Ontario College of Art and Design University) and has been creating art her entire life, only recently has she decided to pursue it more seriously, after working in Law and Education.
She has shown her work in Art Fairs/Exhibitions in New York, Miami, London, Toronto and the Caribbean. Her work is held in private collections in Canada, The USA and Europe.
