After years of working in both the performing arts and marketing, R. Fulkerson came back to her true love of creating visual art. For her, art is compulsion seeking a release. "Life comes in layers", says Fulkerson, "that is how I paint. My purpose is not to mask each layer but to enhance it, just as each hope and heartache combine to reveal a destiny. I want people to see what they want to see in my work and feel a connection". A San Diego native, Fulkerson says she loves the abstract form because it expresses individualism so beautifully. Her objective is for her work to speak to the viewer's soul. Primarily self taught, she has studied with Drew Bandish, Olya Losina and Chuck McPherson. R. Fulkerson's most recent solo exhibitions have been in San Diego's Little Italy, Hillcrest and in Mission Hills.
