YanikKA paints on large canvases covered in dark colours. Spontaneous movements direct the composition of her works, in which diagonals are important, since the dynamic that they create support a theatrical dimension that is inspired by romantism. Forms are slowly born from the successive transparent layers that are applied by hand, leaves behind her brushe. As she seeks a balance between contrast and transparency, between sensitivity and expression, the direct contact with the medium allows YanikKA to explore a poetic and vaporous touch. The floral arrangements that she paints are directly inspired by nature, without any reorganisation by the artist. YanikKA wishes to capture the very essence of things, as nature presents them, in order to immortalise them : “ Painting the flowers so that they never die”. That is what summarises her artistic motivations. This is obviously reminiscent from the philosophy of Vanitas from the 17e century, whose manifest message was the end of life. Indeed, YanikKA always choses models that have been affected by the passage of time. Wild gardens, corolla damaged by the cold and foliage deformed by the weather speak to her aesthetic preoccupation of capturing the essence of the ephemeral.
